Hi, I'm Rachel. I’m a designer, painter, dog mom, apple pie baker, and DIY enthusiast passionate about sustainability.I’ve been interested in sustainability for as long as I can remember. From volunteering to teach at renewable energy workshops to my work with OCAD U’s Office of Equity, Diversity, and Sustainability Initiatives and meeting like-minded peers, my sustainability journey has continuously taught me new things. I try to share this knowledge with my family and friends to hopefully inspire them to adopt new habits centred on zero-waste and sustainability.I grew up in a suburban house that was continually undergoing renovations. My dad is a Do-It-Yourself kind of guy, and I was the only one out of my siblings who wanted to be a part of any of it. Growing up with this interest is what put me on my path to becoming an interior designer, and the hands-on experience I’ve gained along the way has given me a greater sense of the inner workings of a home. After we moved and began renovating our “new” old house, I noticed the sheer volume of waste that comes with renovating and making more efficient spaces. This realization launched me into my thesis project with a sense of urgency and a need for change.
