Mixed Media Installation

“A mixed media installation that explores the dichotomies of being an African- descended or dark-skinned woman in today’s societies. More specifically, it presents viewers with imagery that questions the lens in which marginalized black women are viewed. As modern pop culture monopolizes contemporary black culture, history and a timeline of relegation still gives way to unfavorable stereotypes. This installation juxtaposes the synonymous idealization of coloured women, along with reminders of the inescapable history that shadows them.”
