Lakeside Commons is a co-housing situation based in Musselman's Lake, Ontario. 10 individual living units are situated on a circular grid with the center point being the common house that is used by all of the tenants. Creating co-housing within the area of Musselman's Lake gives the opportunity for current residents and newcomers to the area a place to live while respecting the reforestation act which prohibits new building footprints and deforestation of the land.

“The intent of this project is to bring a small community closer together by analyzing the town and figuring out the needs for the town to grow while respecting nature. Bringing in new families and bringing assistance to the elderly that already live in the area. Creating a space where getting care, food, and doing activities become easier for the community as a whole, while still maintaining individuality and privacy, within the natural environment that the community loves. ”

“In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and they’re still beautiful. –Alice Walker”
