oil and mirrors on wood, 48 x 24 in. A character model created for the development of the short film Carasoul: a Portrait in nth Dimensions.

“Between abstraction and figuration, this is a vision of invisible dimensions within my human experience grounded in biological and biographical forms. Temporal, immaterial sensations and perceptions are shown as spatially material extensions of the body. This work is for feeling thoughts around you like waves and forms, invisible yet tangible. One named experience is the Carasoul, the head-soul moving like a merry-go-round. It’s the imagination, the mind’s eye, the visuospatial sketchpad of the psyche surrounding the body. The Carasoul questions how one experiences time, the location and duration of consciousness, the life force, and the imaginal mind. These unseen yet vitally tangible experiences envelop our bodies in extra dimensions. Nth dimensions expresses the uncertainty about the nature of the unseen layers of reality we live within. As the viewer approaches the work, they see themselves reflected in the mirrors embedded in the paint. Each mirror shows a fragment of the viewer's whole image. The viewer's perception assembles these fragments into a cohesive reflection of themselves being seen within the painted figure's mind's eye in return.”
