(S)hell
Painting
(S)hell is part of my thesis series "After the Event " in which I explore a potential post-climate crisis Earth, where giant plant women hybrids have replaced humans, and the world is thriving as Nature reclaims what's hers. I chose the locations I wished to reimagine based on places I've been in the city that I felt were recognizable or were part of my daily commute. I wanted a mix of popular and obscure locations. The monochrome green evokes nature and plants.
“Exerpt from my Thesis Paper:"The ivy that had covered the houses is here too, climbing over the gas pumps and the walls of the attached convenience store. The “S” on the gas station sign has slipped, holding on to the yellow overhang by a single nail. A small gust of wind could probably knock it off, but it hasn’t. The figure still sits. Watching. The gas station barely reaches past her waist. Her glowing eyes stare into the distance, unblinking. The gas station is a relic. The “S” that’s barely hanging on is like a historical artifact. It’s a reminder."”
