Foraged from Buckthorn and Wild Grapes growing side-by-side on the shore of Lake Ontario. Wild Grape is classified as a "native" species, while Buckthorn is labeled "invasive". Though their small berries appear very similar to one another, they produce differently hued inks.
“There is a disconnect between the dynamic personal growth I'm experiencing in midlife and the negative perceptions society has of older people. Invasive thoughts, reinforced by experiences of being ignored, dismissed, and undervalued by others, are not always easy to weather. From the Buckthorn and Wild Grape, coexisting side by side, I learn to thrive despite what others may think of me.”
