The Moon Man - VR Game
Digital Media
2023
PlotlineThe Moon falls in love with the Ocean, so she sends a messenger to deliver a love letter. Shortly after embarking on his journey, the messenger falls into a sinkhole. Attempting to find his way out, he discovers that he was not the first messenger to fail, as his predecessors now live trapped in the subterranean tunnels, having lost all hope in the Moon. Some have even gone feral and transformed into abyssal creatures, living in isolation.Gameplay DescriptionThe player will need to escape the cavernous cenote, finding moonlight in the crevices above in order to access his lunar abilities, rescue his allies and restore hope. You will solve elevation, position and timing based puzzles by changing the sea level, altering the temperature of the water, and refracting moonlight onto light-sensitive plants to clear obstructed paths and find your way to the heart of the Ocean.
“For this VR game made up of 9 people, I was a co-lead game designer with Julia Andrejczuk. Julia came up with the main mechanic and overall aesthetic of the game. I went on to create the overall narrative, dialogue, environment art, and a variety of other core mechanics such as magical crystals that create ice platforms and hot geysers. I also implemented most of the code, models, and animations into Unity, and programmed 60% of the game. I was responsible for ensuring we met our production timeline and assigning tasks to everyone on the team.”
