The story of a late night out dancing, drinking and calling your future self.
“The first painting in a four part painting series, ICE IN MY VEINS explores themes of mania and nightlife clubbing. The artwork exudes a frenetic energy and depicts a sense of emotional numbness through its use of an over-saturated color palette and glittering textures. The central character has been divided into three distinct versions of herself, which symbolizes a psychological fragmentation of the self. Despite the clear exhaustion of the character, she is deeply contented in the moment and feels compelled to share it with her future self. However, this leaves the viewer uncertain as to whether anyone will answer the call. ICE IN MY VEINS offers a commentary on the dichotomy of the exhilarating yet exhausting nature of club culture, as well as the inherent challenges of maintaining balance and stability within a fast-paced environment.”
