Painting
With this painting, I decided not to use a reference and work with my intuition and gesture to create the image of a female centaur, otherwise known as a centauride in Greek mythology. In the process, I used water, acrylics, and charcoal to create this painting to experiment with the horse's gravity and weight and demonstrate the body's movement to show determination, stability and acceptance toward internal emotions.
“With centaurs representing strong patriarchal values, I wanted to represent my version of the centauride as a form to fight against them and reclaim the strength and power being taken away from the "centaurides". However, this fight we as "centaurides" experience, is a tough fight. Yet, we remain grounded. ”
