“I created a skeleton hand ring with two handsconnected from the heel and joining at the fingertips. I wanted my piece to have somethingto do with bones, drawing out figures, and playing around with the shapes until I foundsomething I liked. I chose the skeleton hands because they have so many differentmeanings, bones can represent death, mortality, decay, limit and other things, but an entireskeleton hand can represent life, resurrection, structure, and two skeleton hands canrepresent love, partnership, loyalty, permanence, and connection to life, referencing myreading response on allegory and how it informed my piece. Bones are the structure that holds us together and the foundation of our bodies. They’re always hidden under skin,muscle, and tissue, but the skeleton on its own represents our connection to earth, the cycleof death, decay, and reconnect. The two hands symbolize the reconnection of two peopleafter death, joining one another in the afterlife and becoming permanent forms of being, bothon land as remnants and as souls in the sky.”
