Oil on wood
10" x 24"
"Up North Somewhere" is an oil painting on a slab of cherry wood. The composition was carefully planned to incorporate the natural elements of the wood, particularly its unique banding which can be appreciated in the sky, imitating clouds. The cracks of the wood make the piece quirky and interesting and act as a reminder of the fragility of the natural world. The artwork showcases a warm colour palette, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere. The trees in the painting appear to be pine trees, adding to the familiar, natural and peaceful setting. Additionally, the overall composition evokes a sense of calm and relaxation.
