“This project is based on the concept of Haute Couture reinterpretation. Inspired by art history of 19th century Europe and Haute Couture exhibitions, the design of these works projects an expressive and personal view on this chosen topic. Symbols, dressing styles, and accessories in 19th century Europe are referenced, especially the artistic achievement of the Baroque Age. The method of deconstruction is largely used to redefine materials and reference images in the design process. There are four pieces included in the final series, which are a ring, a collar, and two brooches. The materials include artificial leather, sterling silver, pearls, colorful beads, and findings, with techniques applied such as casting, silversmithing, pattern making, beading, and sewing. The final pieces show a combination of jewellery (metal) work and textile (beading) work.”
