Architecture serves as a form of storytelling, shaping spaces that reflect human experiences. At its heart, it meets the basic human need for shelter. This thesis delves into the lives of low-income migrant workers who have played a crucial role in constructing and maintaining Dubai’s urban landscape. Despite their invaluable contributions, these workers endure harsh living conditions, often crowded into cramped accommodations while supporting their families back home. This reality stands in stark contrast to Dubai’s image of luxury and opulence. In response, this thesis proposes a redesigned living prototype tailored to the needs of low-income migrant workers, prioritizing their well-being and dignity. The modular design allows for scalability, offering a sustainable solution that can be replicated across the city and country. Moreover, the project aims to foster a sense of community and provide the framework for educational opportunities in their home away from home, acknowledging the workers’ humanity and honoring their vital role in Dubai’s development.
