Open Wide

Originally starting as a materiel study of thicker brush strokes, the piece developed into a twisted view of a dentist appointment.

“Mainly focused on seeing how bright, rich colors can be used as shadows or highlights along with thick brushstrokes, as I worked on Open Wide the figures and their relationship became more clear. Taking place in a nightmarish dental office, the Tongue (left) holds down the Body (right) as it finally examines the cave like mouth it has been housed in; left in a state of shock, the Body stares down the viewer in attempts to call out or find kinship for their dread.”
