By starting my process by abstracting the alphabet and other signs with, what became, a collage approach where each layer that is built up by some sort of material experiment (experiments in application, additive methods, subtractive methods, and mark-making), I was considering the ideas of bias and truth, and how memory is more linked to the former than the latter.
