Not My Land

Not My Land is an ephemeral gesture of trying to "unmark" the ownership of deeded unceded land.

“Not My Land is a video performance of myself walking the soft spring ground of my family’s homestead property with wooden stamps strapped to my shoes with orange severance tape. With each weighted step the pressure of the words “NOT MY” and “LAND” are stamped into the earth, repeated in the mud and snow of the owned land that is not deeded to me but is within McNish ownership. This work is my settler response to the Indigenous Land Back movement commenting on settlers stealing land and claiming wrongfully yet crookedly lawed property deeds. Acknowledging my settler existence as trespassing. ”
