When considering embodied gesture, the intimacy of my phone itself is evident within the act of cradling it in my hand, caressing the screen with my fingertips, and taking it into bed with me. Here We Remain is a painting of my partner lying in bed with his phone screen brightly illuminating his face, having fallen asleep while using it to read. If my smartphone is an embodied extension of myself, my relationship with it is as intimate as my relationship with myself.
