The Moon Man: Project Overview And Exhibit

The Moon Man is a VR game following the narrative of a light creature that must send a love letter to the heart of the ocean on behalf of the Moon. The game features mechanics like raising and lowering the water by moving your arms up and down, climbing, and throwing crystals to create platforms or elevate platforms based on your surroundings and overall goals. This game was a collaborative project; however, I played a significant role in the development under the functions of a: level designer, concept artist, 3D modeller, 3D animator and coordinator. I worked under the leadership of Julia Andrejczuk and Ryan Boyd. “Throughout this project, I could use most of my skills developed throughout the Digital Futures program. Firstly, we introduced a concept from which we, as a team, drew ideas and developed into a more transparent, narrower prospect. From helping out to brainstorming, elevator pitches and design documents, we began to create our characters. I came up with the simple design of the moon man, then proceeded to delve more into level design and user experience. After creating primitive grey boxing designs and exploring aesthetics through a 2D medium, my role was helping with fleshing out the game: working on shaders, helping with lighting, level arrangments, textures and a few 3D models and animation polishing. The game's goal was to explore a relaxing journey through the experience of VR. Whilst we received criticism for our choice to make it in VR, many people were thrilled by the platform's interactivity.In the following posts, you can see my process throughout this journey.
