Embracing Shadows

Animated thesis short film

“Embracing Shadows is a single-channel 2D animation about a girl’s frantic adventure as she encounters monsters born from her self doubt and negative emotions. I explore the themes of personal growth and self reconciliation. The story focuses on the girl’s encounter with these monsters leading up to her answer; how she deals with them. The title Embracing Shadows refers to both the monster chasing after the girl and also her accepting, and embracing back at the end of the story. My goal with this project is to present a new perspective on a self acceptance story with a mix of thriller and fantasy.”
