“Pink Elephant” is a captivating, abstract landscape painting with bright neon pink colours and gestural brushwork.

“My artworks hold profound meanings for me within their many layers of paint. In fact, there are more than five decades of life experience and love embedded into their bright colour palettes and loose brushstrokes which evoke traces of memory, cultural hybridity, gratitude and recognition of the temporality of this ‘heaven on earth’ we call life."Pink Elephant" is a landscape painting and activist work which reveals my vision of what the planet would look like if we, humans, do not take care of our water, soil, and air. In creating this work, I want to politically-stimulate and activate the community to be mindful stewards of our environment. The concept and title for my painting were derived from the expression, the “pink elephant rule”, which is an unspoken rule about topics which are off-limits as they are contentious and tend to make people uncomfortable.
