The Pandemic Moments II
Drawing
2021
Graphite on paper
30.0 x 22.0 inches
The COVID-19 virus has heightened the uncertainty over human health and relationships. In these drawings, I intend to show how my parents are pessimistic and concerned about coronavirus exposure, but they still feel stifled wearing a mask. Therefore, I veiled their faces to show the details of the facial features and skin textures to reveal their age. However, I also wanted to show how my parents desire to go back to everyday life. Nevertheless, I decided to put a dark mask on my face. I believe the darkest colour represents the universe as well as my mental and emotional space which contains my feelings, thoughts, and words that I’m afraid to share with other people. Lastly, I chose to add different backgrounds in each portrait to show that we all feel different emotions in everyday life.
