Time-based media that shows my interactive wearable that reads your pulse to activate its LEDs. The code is processed through Arduino Uno. Sound composed by myself using Native Instruments and Logic Pro.
“"I Stole Your Heart" is an ensemble of work that includes a wearable, sculpture, installation, and performance. I started building the sculpture in 2020 along with co-designer Edward Chan and completed it in 2021. The sculpture requires a human heartbeat to activate its lit up human circulatory system. Without that heartbeat, the sculpture is lifeless. Attached to this piece via heart monitor is my cyborg persona, "Zoë Starra." The pulsating lights are proof that she has a heartbeat. It is unknown what kind of heart she holds, but whatever it may be, it is still able to power the sculpture. The visual of her own inside-out heartbeat astonishes her and for a moment she discovers rhythmic breathing. Could it be perhaps that instead of herself powering the sculpture, it is the sculpture powering her?”
