“A part" is a multi-disciplinary painting which conveys the thematic elements of identity, ancestral history and temporality via collage, ink transfer and painting. It integrates perspective, the play of light, and a solitary figure in nature.
“I see the world in heightened colour and react to it with raw emotion. So much so, the following words of French painter, Eugène Delacroix, resonate loudly within my brain each and every day: “Nature is a dictionary; one draws words from it.”The title of my abstract landscape “A part” is an existential response to humankind’s relationship with each other and to the land. The question my painting poses is: Are we “a part” or “apart”? This work emanates hope, temporality, magic and mystery. "A part" integrates perspective, the play of light, and highlights man’s ties with the environment (life above and below our living environment). The magic of nature that unfolds in “A part” acts as a reminder for us all to respect our environment and each other.”
