Bark Over The Journal: Felted Object

Textiles
2021
In this project, I wanted to make a wearable or portable item that suit my everyday need. In the beginning, I planned to felt a scarf, dyed with eco-dye, and have test wool dyeing with onion skin as well as black tea. However, the weather is getting warmnow, which made me think: Can I make something else that could be used every day or so? Because I do watercolor painting a lot and have bought a new watercolor journal recently, I decided to make a cover for it.I also made a video recording the process of making it, which I linked below~

“While I was walking in a park, the texture of bark rose my interest.I love that uneven and bumpy texture, with liner elements and earthy colors. So I decided to incorporate that in my design, in the way it would be in my mind, instead of copying from the realistic world or photos I took. This piece contains the technique of pocket felting, needle felting, eco-printing, as well as sewing.”
