A self portrait in the style of a historical painting.

“Imagining myself in a higher station, this piece was inspired by Franz Xaver Winterhalter (German, 1805–1873). Empress Elisabeth of Austria, 1865. Oil on canvas; 255 x 133 cm. Vienna: The Hofburg. Bringing aspects of myself into this painting I added lady slippers within my hair to represent Prince Edward Island where I spent my childhood and trilliums behind me for Ontario where I now reside.”
