Encaustic, copper wire and lace fabric
Detached is an installation performance piece. The body of the work is a lace fabricreused material from my older artworks. The fabrics are covered with beeswax to remaintransparent and demonstrate skin texture. Densely woven copper wire stitches connect the twopieces to represent the connections and bonds between two people.

“A relationship involves a limitless amount of effort, energy and forgiveness. A long-timethe relationship creates an emotional connection and deep attachments between two people.Learning about each other and creating emotional and physical connections is the process ofbeing in a relationship. Trust creates a stronger and deeper connection between two persons, andonce the connections are stronger, they become vulnerable to each other. When the trust isbetrayed, healing would not be possible. The emotional pain is revolving anytime its memoriesappear. Once the relationship breaks and strings are disconnected, stitch places will turn into permanent woundsremaining on the skin. A deeper connection with deeper ties into the skin turns into a deeperwound. My performance was cutting stitched copper wires to detach the two pieces. Cutting stitches'sound and sharp texture represent my broken relationship's physical and emotional pain.I keep the last stitch as I believe the connection from a long-time relationship is never fullydisconnected. The emotional feelings may fade over time, but they will never disappear.”
