07 I SEE

Installation
2023
"I SEE" is a double-projection installation that explores the concepts of embodiment and spatialization. The installation involves placing the subject in front of a camera, which captures their image and projects it onto the wall behind the camera. On the opposite wall, only the eyes of the subject are projected, creating the illusion of the subject looking back at themselves. If the subject turns to see their eyes on the opposite wall, the projection disappears because the camera cannot capture them. This creates a sense of disconnect between the subject and their own image, as only surrounding viewers have access to both images.Client: Nuit Blanche.Team: Alina Danilyuk, Ariane Labbe, Natacha Supavivat and Tae Lee.

Throughout this project, I have deepened my understanding of the concept of digital liminality, which forms the foundation of my thesis (Elsewhere with Apple). It helped me navigate through my research question and strengthened my insight.

Audio played a crucial role in the concept we wanted to demonstrate. We played with the idea of establishing a connection: when the room was empty, it was filled with static noise audio. When a participant interacted with the installation, the connection was established, and the audio stopped, and the room quieted down.
