A mezuzah is a piece of parchment contained in a decorative case and inscribed with specific Hebrew verses from the Torah. It is attached to the outside of the entrance door frame of Jewish homes. When I moved to Toronto, my parents gave me one of their mezuzahs to affix to the door frame of my very first apartment. Within 2 days of having it up, it vanished; it was either stolen, knocked down, or snatched up unintentionally. Either way, I will never know. When I reported it to security as stolen, it was swept under the rug - so I decided to make a rug out of the story. This is a cut-pile tufted rug.
