"New Landscape" is a digital collage using photo images from Internet and my own collection. This collage creates an abstract landscape with architectural reference and challenges the traditional pictorial frame in a gestural way. It intends to reflect my imagination of how manmade structures interplay with the nature in the future or in the virtual world.
“The digital collage is inspired by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid's design of the urban complex building located in Beijing, Galaxy SOHO. The curvilinear design with four asymmetric continuous structures, streamlined and modern look, stylistic patterns and rhythm created by the skytowers, skylights and skybridges, lightness, and technology attract my attention at first. With digital image cut outs, I transform them into new forms and shapes – abstract and symbolic, integrate and transform architectural elements and colour shapes into a new abstract work.”
