2022
Due to the lack of meaningful attention usually given to the issues of accessibility in many cities, this project advocates for integrating accessibility as the driver of the design rather than an afterthought.
“Many cities, including Toronto, pertain infrastructure and areas that contain barriers so that many people are unable to access certain facilities and areas. Designing universally, inclusively, and accessibly, we can create cities that are welcome to all and are enjoyed by people of all walks of life. This project is just one example of what a universally designed structure can be, focusing on accessibility as well as user experience. The Universal Community Centre provides equal opportunities to all by being universally designed and by creating exciting experiences for everyone. ”
