Calvario

El Calvario (Calvary) is a series of three paintings that portray the different stages of training of children for militias. The characters are elongated shapes, rendered repetitively. The atmosphere is mainly covered, with dark green and red colours, creating a contrast with the children's skin textures. This series is inspired by research related to child recruitment within the Colombian armed conflict. Through the collection of the victim's testimonials, this work attempts to explore the existential anguish and religious values that emerge during the rite of passage from childhood to adulthood experienced by children in captivity.
