“Barbie Dream Business depicts a scandal involving toy company Mattel. Mattel founder Ruth Handler had been caught lying to investors about making more sales than they had. This was influenced by a factory fire and labour strike which had caused a shortage in toy stock around the holiday season. The image is structured to be read as a sequential comic or triptych, with the rooms acting as separate scenes.”
