This animated artwork is a collaborative student project created by Aysenur (Ash) Ozkan and Selin Yena Ozel for OCADU’s EXAN 2008-304. The piece features a snowman character animation blending 2D and 3D aesthetics through a low-poly design style, produced using Maya, Toon Boom Harmony, After Effects, and Premiere Pro. The animation includes a dancing snowman, a bouncing snowman scene, and custom hand-drawn textures and backgrounds, with snow effects and editing handled in post-production.

“We came into this project as new animators with a clear vision: a playful snowman world built on low-poly geometry, hand-drawn textures, and a mix of 2D and 3D. I handled the second part of the animation and technical side, including lighting, 3D models, camera moves, rendering, and editing, while Selin Yena brought the concept to life through her background paintings, the dancing snowman, textures, and the intro and outro.Between computer crashes, rigging failures, and rendering issues, the process was as much about learning as creating. This project taught me that animation takes patience, collaboration, and the willingness to start over without giving up on your vision.
