Ethnic individuals are no longer proficient in their heritage language. Systemic acculturation and social discrimination have diminished the desire in young adults to learn about their culture. This creates a disconnect between familial generations and cultural identity. Heritage schools are attended but forgotten. Second language classes are offered but ignored. Let’s be honest language alone is boring and hard. A new solution to heritage language awareness should not be like previous institutional attempts but through social, casual ways. Family feood is a bilingual card game centered around cultural foods. Food is a universal language that everyone has a personal connection with. Food is what brings depth and personal connection to this card game.
