Portable Skin Patches (Garments for the Edges of Your Experience 2)
Mixed Media
2023
fabric, found frames, drawer pulls, cellophane, pencil, paper
11" x 9 1/2"
This is a series of works which is made up of wearable, or rather portable, frames containing cellophane wrapped patches that are cut to match often exposed parts of the body. Parts of the body include: knees, fingertips, forehead, knuckles and so forth. They are packaged as if for consumer purchase, but they are further contained in a frame, subjecting them to display, along with the small sketch, making the piece informative instead of consumable. These patches then act as a reminder of these edges of the body's experience, and perhaps would only be actually used under dire circumstances, while the frame itself is a manageable size, similar to a handbag, and can be carried around all the time.
