I Knew You When Your Hair was Long

I was there when you cut it all off,a new person, the same I’ve always known.I'll watch it all grow again, piece by piece, strand by strand.I’ve watched your nails grow, and heard the clippers, trimming them away.Has it been that long already?You shaved your legs,skin soft and even. I’ll still be here, when it becomes prickly again. You dyed your hair, and dyed it again.A piercing, a new mole upon your skin.Again and again, you’re not the person you once were,but still, I’ll watch your hair grow. “You’d look cute with it short” (stay with me forever)
