“99 More emerges from a dream in which I was surrounded entirely by paintings of fire—just endless stretches of these paintings that varied in scale, intensity, and context. There was a deep sense of peace and newness. This was the first rendition since that dream; I am planning to make at least 100. I've since been viewing the element of fire as wonderfully transformative, echoing alchemical associations of purification and transmutation, where heat becomes a condition for change rather than an end.”
