A Triptych design about infamous Salem Witch Trial
““The triptych first made its appearance in the Middle Ages, adorning the altarpieces of churches. Relaying stories of the bible and functioning to aid prayer, triptychs were an important way of visualizing Christianity and showing devotion.”(https://www.riseart.com/ guide/2414/what-is-a-triptych) I chose the traditional triptych as the format of this project and created an ironic presentation. Salem Witch Trials were seen as God’s work, even though the vents were one of the cruelest and inhumane miscarriages of justice. Many innocent people were sent to the gallows. A very famous Triptych called the coronation of the virgin and other scenes This Triptych shows Virgin Mary, who is ascending to the heavens. Different from Witches, she represents pure and holy intentions. I tried my best to copy this beautiful triptych, in order to show how different and sarcastic it can be. Consequently, Jesus is crowning her. I incorporated this religious symbolism in the triptych, alongside images capturing the trials. This is meant to show the ironic conceptions of good and evil.”
