During WW2, a queer Jew dressed up as a Nazi to free his lover from the camps. Using butterflies and bats as a metaphor, the image is a narrative of trapped butterflied within a cage guarded by bats. One of these bats is really a butterfly that blends in with the bats on its mission to free the others. The two butterfly “lovers” are coloured pink to make an association between them and is also a reference to queer history during WW2.

““Love Conquers All” explores the paradox of love blooming during war. This series of images emphasize the visual poetry that comes forward as a result of placing elements of love and war in juxtaposition. Stories of love thriving in a time of war are visually interpreted to explore the resilience of love and the need for love to conquer hate to preserve our humanity.
