The Third Place: Sanctuary for Social Unity

Environmental Design
2024
Welcome to my project, aimed at addressing the isolation within suburban neighborhoods in Brampton and fostering a sense of community and belonging.

“The suburban zoning has created a divide between communities, leaving residents yearning for a place where they can connect and belong outside of home and work. This project introduces the concept of the "third place" – a central community plaza designed to encourage interaction, sharing, and bonding within walking distance. Located at 320 Queen St E, the central community plaza breaks down the zoning boundaries between commercial and residential areas. It serves as a hub for community integration and walkable spaces, bridging the gap between neighboring communities.”
