“‘Lumpfishing’ is a piece in the form of a brooch that speaks on the legacy of Iceland’s foundation,fishing. The brooch has an interactable component, the fishing rod with a cut out of a lumpfish fromIceland’s 100 krona coin.Despite the collective dislike towards the idea of lumpfish being on the highest value coin out of allISK for its “ugly” features and its awful taste, it is undeniable that lumpfish have contributed a greatsum to Iceland’s economy through being exported to other countries and selling their roe for caviar.The disappearing of the fist under the layer of water is meant to display how the lumpfish isdisregarded and discredited as a species, and one goes to question its purpose as they slowly pullthe fish out from under the water.”
