“Curated by a weird Asian artist, this art show highlights the complexities faced by diaspora groups, particularly Asian artists, in Western galleries. While they may be welcomed, there is often an implicit expectation for them to showcase work that directly reflects their cultural heritage. Many artists find that this focus on identity can lead to objectification, where their creations are viewed through the narrow lens of "Orientalism." As a result, Western audiences may only achieve a superficial understanding of both the art and the artist's true authenticity. This art show satirizes the prevailing high art standards of Western galleries, exposing the stereotypes of Orientalism that are frequently misrepresented, misunderstood, undervalued, and quite frankly, weird.”
