Spooders

Halloween is my favorite holiday, and with this piece I really wanted to spread some festive cheer and positivity around my neighborhood. Spooders is a series of chibi pumpkin spiders cast in plaster from a silicone mould - each spooder is hand-painted and themed as if they were wearing little costumes. In October of 2021, I left nine spooders in various locations around downtown Toronto for strangers to pick up and "adopt" if they wished, and one spooder was kept for myself. After revisiting the locations the next day, all the spooders were gone, so I believe they were all adopted out to loving families!
