Hums of the Past

This work focuses on my cultural hymns, the atmosphere of Kerala and the exploration of Nostalgia. I use hymns from my past, and tunes that have been sung to me just as I was going to sleep. Kerala is filled with natural beauty, I want to encapsulate that through the medium of sound. These sounds include rain, thunder, crickets, birds and much more. This work was mixed using a DAW (digital audio workspace)called GarageBand. I will use binaural audio to capture the humming and tunes using my voice.The viewer stands on the paaya which adds to the cultural and nostalgic aspect of the sound. Thetextures of the straw mat also take me back in time, as its feel is very unique.
