Jugaad Principle 03: Envelope

Jugaad Principle 3: creating a fast and cheap—but effective— workaround (a makeshift).Having photographed found designs created by non-designers, I needed to showcase them. I wanted to present these images in a poster format, but getting stuck in a creative rut and seeing how costly it is to print posters, I decided to change the composition completely. Rather than designing for a 24”x 36” poster, I went around the house looking for a cheaper format to design and print for, an envelope. Getting mail every day, our household recycles quite a bit of paper, and seeing an abundance of envelopes compelled me to use them. Now, I was designing a 4”x 9” composition, and it gave me a fresh perspective. Finding a cheap material like an envelope, that is more effective in showcasing my designs, was a decision I was more than happy to make seeing how interesting the results were.
