1984 - Women’s Sexuality

“In the novel 1984 the ever watchful government influences the thoughts and actions of the people. One of the ways this is done is through the formation of the “anti-sex league”, often represented by a red sash. The group was designed to promote celibacy and the suppression of sexuality. This illustration conveys the struggle between women and these ideals, represented by the red sash. Women have faced repercussions and judgment for normal sexual activity for centuries. ”
