The Founding Role of Voice

Essay
2020
text
How might an element of 'voice' found and enable a world of experience? This text situates the topic of 'voice' in a broader field, focusing at length on how it works inter-sensorially through phenomenological descriptive investigations. As voice inscribes onto/into the body in a dual-action, it is like a fingerprint. Speaking and listening bodies go into each other, writing themselves onto each other. It could be said that listening is literally ‘getting more in touch’ with something. This text was developed alongside the installation The Intertwining Voice of Contact (2020).
