These moults are also Covid-19 masks. With the mandatory mask laws and newly formed mask culture an omnipresent part of global life, there is something very refreshing about not having to perform facial expressions, even something simple like faking a smile at people I don’t want to interact with. Wearing masks permits me to not expel energy on arbitrary social contracts I never signed up for. A physical mask enables me to not “perform” masking.
