Self Portrait From Mirror

This self portrait was created by looking at myself in the mirror.

“This assignment for my illustrative painting class was initially quite daunting, and it proved to be quite difficult, especially in the beginning. It's one thing to paint from a photo, another thing to paint from a figure in front of you, and then something else entirely to paint your own reflection. It's quite strange to be looking at yourself for hours on end. I found myself often losing and regaining my sense of what I actually look like throughout the painting process, but it turns into a meditative process of colour matching and playing with proportions. Mentally it was a strange but rewarding experience.”
