“The repetitive composition of Shadow Mirror Shadow Mother is meant to be trance-inducing, engulfing the viewer’s vision, much like a daydream. This necklace is part umbilical cord, part network, symbolizing an intimate connection to Mother Earth through meditations with the transience of shadows. Through daydreaming and reflection – looking at and peering through the spaces in between a webbed saw-pierced design – we can conceive of an interconnected larger whole, a connection to Mother Earth. The weight and envelopment of metal over shoulders and chest is indicative of a hug, of her presence; she gifts us with the cover of shadows as a reminder that we are all protected under her. ”
